Beaches, striped umbrellas and Diet Cokes. Who doesn’t love summer? It brings back memories of Hurrican Dolly, reading under the covers with a flashlight and replacing batteries after every half-hour because the batteries were from Dollar General.

Summer means fun and spending more time with family. It also means goodbyes and hellos, new beginnings and ancient endings. Summer’s a newborn babe screaming in the heat, even though they call Spring ‘a new beginning’; spring is the babe adjusting to its surroundings. In the beginning, summer bawls and screams and is ugly. But that’s why we love him. We love to be our ugly selves after a year of being in disguise.
